Motorists and cinema goers to benefit from council’s funding pot

Changes to car parking charges will be introduced at Prestatyn’s Lower Central car park from 1 November until 31 March 2013.

Members of the Prestatyn Members Area Group have £50,000 to allocate to specific projects in their community, as have other similar Groups across the county.

County councillors representing the area decided to subsidise car parking charges by agreeing to use £8,075 of this funding.

Councillor Julian Thompson-Hill, Chair of the Group, said: “The money will subsidise parking charges for the period when the lower part of the town sees major development at the Bus Station and the Stadium Development. This would also support the town’s traders by encouraging shoppers and visitors into the town”.

The new parking charges are 10 pence for 30 minutes, 50 pence for three hours and £3.50 for longer periods.

The Group has also allocated£15,695 to replace a server at the Scala Cinema and Arts Centre which was no longer being maintained following Kodak pulling out of this particular market.

A decision on the remainder of the allocation has been deferred pending further work on other bids that have been submitted.
