MP Welcomes News of Business Start Up Boost

Clwyd West MP, David Jones, is encouraging existing local businesses and potential entrepreneurs to become involved in Barclays’ £450,000 “Take one Small Step Competition”.

The competition gives local business people the opportunity to secure one of nine £50,000 prizes to expand their business; to start up a new idea; to expand into a new market; and to avail of free business and start up advice. The closing date for the competition is 27 April 2011, and entrants should go online to www.takeonesmallstep.co.uk to submit their ideas.

The entrants’ ideas will be judged by a panel of expert judges, including regional entrepreneurs, and will be shortlisted to three. With Barclays support, each competitor will canvass their community to encourage the public to vote for their idea and make them a winner.

David Jones said:

“I welcome Barclays’ encouragement of small businesses.

“The project seeks to engage local people at two levels: by incentivising business growth and by giving constituents the opportunity to select the strongest business proposal.

“The competition is an opportunity to stimulate an environment for the development of useful local businesses in Clwyd West, selected by local people. I would urge as many people as possible to become involved”.
