The cream of the construction industry in Neath Port Talbot gathered at The Towers Hotel recently for a prestigious awards dinner.
Neath Port Talbot Council’s building control section hosted the annual awards ceremony that was sponsored by Lliw Building Supplies and presented by Dai Vaughan and Paul Thorburn.
The Leader of Council, Ali Thomas and the Mayor Pam Thomas attended to present certificates and commemorative plaques to the successful builders and contractors.
The builders nominated by building control surveyors were those who they consider have excelled over the last year and should be rewarded for their expertise.
The ‘Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards’ have been running nationally for several years and aim to encourage high standards of construction and provide customers with value added service.
This year is the eighth year that Neath Port Talbot Council has hosted an awards ceremony and the winners of each category will represent the county borough at the South Wales Regional Awards being held in Cardiff during the spring.
Paul Davis, Building Control Manager, said, “The awards serve to promote the building control service provided by the Council and encourage high standards of construction whilst driving out the cowboys that tarnish the reputation of our industry. Any builder, no matter how large or small can win an award.”
The winning builders and developers are,
- Paul James Building Contractor.
- Mr G Cornwall
- Waterstone Homes
- Hale Construction
- WRW Construction
- Interserve Project Services
- Park View Nursing Home
- Premier Builders Port Talbot
Council Leader, Ali Thomas, added, “It is a great achievement for the builders to be nominated for these awards. The winners will go onto represent Neath Port Talbot in the South Wales Regional finals and, hopefully, they will be able to repeat the success of previous years.”
