The new Chief Constable of North Wales is Mark Polin. The 46-year-old father-of-two is currently the Deputy Chief Constable of Gloucestershire.

He was chosen today by North Wales Police Authority following a rigorous selection procedure involving four candidates.

Mr Polin said “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed Chief Constable of North Wales.

“I look forward to be working with my colleagues, members of the Police Authority and our partners to ensure that North Wales becomes even safer for those who work, live and visit the area.

“My priority is to build on the strong track record that North Wales Police has in terms of performance and particularly to focus upon improving trust and confidence in our communities in terms of the policing services that we provide.”

Cllr Ian Roberts, Chair of the North Wales Police Authority, said: “We were lucky to have the opportunity to interview and choose from four first class candidates for this vitally important position.

“North Wales Police is one of the most efficient and effective forces in the UK and we are confident that we have picked the right person to take North Wales Police to the next level.

“Mark Polin brings a huge amount of experience and expertise to the role of Chief Constable. He is a very good copper.

“The Police Authority is looking forward to working with him to build on some already firm foundations so that we can make North Wales an even safer place to live.”
