New Partnership Superintendent for Western Division

North Wales Police have welcomed a new Superintendent for the force’s Western Division.

Superintendent Paul Breed, who transferred from Avon and Somerset Constabulary, has joined North Wales Police as the new Partnerships Superintendent. He will be based at Divisional Headquarters in Caernarfon.

He now has the overall responsibility for the development of Neighbourhood Policing in Anglesey and Gwynedd and working in partnership with other agencies in an effort to improve the quality of life of local communities.

Originally from the Carmarthenshire area, Supt Breed is pleased to be back in Wales. He said: “I am absolutely delighted at my posting to the Western Division and I’m looking forward to making a real difference to the communities which we serve, as well as building on the excellent achievements my predecessor, Supt Gareth Wynne and the team have already made.”

Before joining North Wales Police, Supt Breed served 20 years with Avon and Somerset Constabulary working a variety of uniformed posts within Bristol and Specialist Operations. He was attached to the Firearms for 15 years and during his last 12 months he was the BCU Commander for South Bristol.

He added: “Our aim is to work with other agencies and local communities to build on the good work that is already being done to reduce crime and disorder and improve the quality of life of all in our community.

“Crime and community safety remains a priority for residents and we need to ensure that police and partners are concentrating their efforts on addressing those issues that the communities are most concerned about.”

One such way the public can tell the police what their concerns are is to take part in the online ‘Balance your Bobbies’ questionnaire. This is an innovative way the public can let the police know what is important to them. The response will inform the local Neighbourhood Policing Teams of any key issues specific to the community, and by ‘Balancing your Bobbies’ the public will be able to inform the District Inspector where his or her neighbourhood policing resources should be spent.

Residents can sign up to take part by logging on to the website, www.balanceyourbobbies.com which can also be accessed via the Force or the Police Authority website.
