New Post for Former Head

The former long-serving headteacher of Ysgol y Preseli, Crymych, Martin Lloyd, has been appointed to a senior education post at Pembrokeshire County Council.

Mr Lloyd from Cilgerran has been appointed Head of School Effectiveness.

He takes over from Graham Longster who himself has succeeded Gerson Davies as Director of Education and Children’s Services.

Mr Lloyd was headteacher at Ysgol y Preseli from 1991 to 2009 and during that time it became recognised as one of the top schools in the country with excellent A-Level and GCSE results

In the last inspection of his headship, the school received no less than seven Grade 1s.

Mr Lloyd studied Economics at Aberystwyth University where he later lectured in the subject. He is also former headteacher at Cardigan Secondary School.

Since February of last year he has been Manager of the Wales National Professional Qualification for Headship Centre at Cardiff University.
