New RNLI A class rescue boat launches on service for the first time at Criccieth

At 10.35am on Friday morning the new RNLI A class rescue boat Margaret and Nantw proceeded to rescue two people believed to be stranded by the tide at Portmeirion.

The RNLI volunteer crew launched the boat at Borth Y Gest but by the time they had almost reached the scene the casualties had managed to get themselves safely ashore.

This was the first time that the new boat launched on service since her arrival on the 16 June 2011.

Criccieth RNLI lifeboats have now launched 30 times during 2011 and have saved 12 lives.
