Do you know someone locally who goes the extra mile to help others? Are you aware of a group of volunteers who have made a difference to the lives of people in their community? Now is your chance to help put your community champions in the spotlight.
Residents in Caerphilly county borough are being asked to nominate their local heroes for the recognition they deserve in the Caerphilly Voluntary Sector Achievement Awards – Star Volunteers 2014.
The annual awards, sponsored by The Campaign Newspaper, Groundwork, The Parent Network and Gwent Police, are organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) to honour the valuable contribution local volunteers make to their communities.
The categories for Star Volunteers 2014 are as follows:
- Young Volunteer of the Year
- Record Breaking Volunteer
- Environmental Volunteer
- Parent Volunteer of the Year
- Inspirational Volunteer
- Retired Senior Volunteer
The closing date for all nominations is Friday 2nd May – to be in contention for an award, individual and group volunteers must carry out their voluntary work within Caerphilly county borough. An award ceremony will take place at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Penallta House headquarters on Wednesday 2nd July to formally honour the winners.
