Denbighshire Social Services’ Occupational Therapy Team has been acclaimed for their work in the community in two categories of the South West Rhyl Community First Awards 2010.
They were recognised in the categories of ‘Health Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Local Partner Agency of the Year’.
The team was nominated as they work with adults and their carers to promote independence in essential living tasks. The team enables people to stay in their own homes for longer and often without the need for care services through the provision of advice, equipment and adaptations.
Cllr Pauline Dobb, Cabinet Lead Member for Social Care, Health and Well-being, said, “Congratulations to the team – their work in South West Rhyl is invaluable. They have helped many people by providing practical help and advice to allow them to take control of their life choices in order to overcome the effects of disability caused by physical or psychological illness, ageing or accident by removing environmental barriers.”
