Off-street parking scheme is hailed a success

An off-street parking scheme, which has recently been completed at Garratt Close, Connah’s Quay, has been hailed a success by local councillors.

Plans for off-street parking at Garratt Close were included in Flintshire County Council’s Capital Programme for last year.

Prior to the work being carried out, parked cars often caused an obstruction in the Close, causing access problems for emergency vehicles and refuse vehicles.

The solution was to relocate the public footpath, and create lay-bys each side of the road to allow the Close’s residents to park safely and away from the access road.

Councillor Helen Brown, Executive Member for Housing, said:

“I am delighted with the high standard of the scheme. This area was a problem for parking and also for access for emergency vehicles. It’s very pleasing to see that the issue has been addressed through the Capital Works Scheme following the concerns of residents and both Cllrs Attridge and Shotton.”

Local ward member, Councillor Bernie Attridge, said:

“I am delighted with this parking scheme at Garratt Close. It has been completed to a very high standard, which will make life a lot easier for service vehicles and emergency services to gain access when needed to this sheltered housing scheme.”

Local ward member, Councillor Aaron Shotton, added:

“I very much welcome the improvements to parking for local residents. Garratt Close is now more accessible, particularly for emergency vehicles. ‘Resident Only Parking’ signs are now in place following requests from Garratt Close residents.”
