Officer gets on his bike for charity

A police officer is all geared up to help people suffering from heart conditions.

PC Mark Lightfoot will be putting his fitness to the test on Sunday (May 9) when he joins hundreds of cyclist in the British Heart Foundation North Wales Bike Ride.

The 15 mile ride starts from Rhyl’s events arena and takes the cyclist along coastal paths, cycle routes and roads.

“I wanted to do something different for fun and to keep fit, and we all know of someone who has had heart problems,” said Mark, who has lost two and a half stone since he started training for the event, and claims he is feeling a great deal better.

“As the British Heart Foundation is working tirelessly to find better and improved ways of treating heart disease and improving patients and their families’ quality of life I thought I would give it a go.”

Mark, a fatal and serious collisions enquiry officer on the Road Collision Investigation Team based in St Asaph, has not set himself a target, but he hopes to raise as much money as possible for the British Heart Foundation.

“As long as I finish before 4pm and raise as much as I can then I will be happy,” he said.
