Officers appeal following series of arson attacks

South Wales Police is appealing for information after a series of arson attacks during the early hours of Saturday, September 3rd.

Four wheelie bins and two cars were set alight.

The alarm was raised at just gone 4am by which time significant damage had been caused to property.

The two vehicles – a Ford Transit van and a Vauxhaul Astra – were parked on Harriet Street at the time.

The wheelie bins belonged to properties on Harriet Street and Clive Street.

Sergeant Stuart Archer said: “This seems like mindless criminal damage which could have ended up causing serious injuries to somebody; the vehicles could have exploded or the fire could have spread to nearby houses putting sleeping residents in danger.

“If anyone has any information about who is responsible, or if anyone noticed anything suspicious, then they should contact Aberdare Police Station via 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
