A young Pembrokeshire Boccia player has moved nearer his ambition of representing Great Britain at the Paralympics in 2012.
Jacob Thomas has been picked as one of nine players to progress to the confirmation stage of the GB Fast Track squad, which is looking to find potential players to represent the country in 2012 and future competitions.
The 15 year-old from Bethesda, who regularly trains with the Welsh Boccia Academy in Cardiff, has just returned from Holland after his first trip abroad for an international competition.
Jacob represented the Great Britain development team in a friendly international competition.
Angela Miles, Disability Sport Development Officer for Sport Pembrokeshire – Pembrokeshire County Council’s sports development arm – praised Jacob’s achievements.
“These are outstanding performances for a teenager and show that Jacob is already a top class sportsman,” she said.
Jacob, who attends Ysgol y Preseli, has only been playing boccia – a form of boules – for five years but has already represented Wales on several occasions.
