A new online tool allows children in Torfaen to measure how sustainable their lives are.
The ‘Green Grin-o-Meter: Children’s take on good lives that don’t cost the Earth’ was launched as part of Torfaen Sustainability Week.
The leader of Torfaen council, councillor Bob Wellington, explained: “Rating systems such as this are a fun way to measure how sustainable people’s lives are and they have proved incredibly popular in other areas.
“Through the Green Grin website, pupils can measure their progress towards sustainable wellbeing, as it calculates scores for their health, carbon footprint and happiness. It also provides advice on how they can improve their score.
“The website is a fun way to learn about sustainable issues and I encourage young people throughout Torfaen to visit the site and take the test themselves.”
The tool, which is based on development work within primary schools in Torfaen, Caerphilly and Carmarthenshire, can be viewed at www.greengrin.co.uk
