Only Boys Aloud Shine on Britain’s Got Talent

Remember to use your vote on Saturday night to support Only Boys Aloud in the final of Britain’s Got Talent!

The 140 strong male voice choir aged 14-19 from the Valleys were created especially for the Blaenau Gwent and Heads of the Valleys National Eisteddfod opening concert in 2010, have been a great success during the series, and the four judges have been impressed with their performances both in the first round and in the semi final over the weekend.

Elfed Roberts, National Eisteddfod Chief Executive, said, “I’m sure we all enjoyed Only Boys Aloud’s rousing performances over the weekend, and we are pleased to see that many of their supporters have purchased tickets for this year’s Eisteddfod opening concert since their success.  We’re encouraging everyone to support the boys in the final this weekend, and hope that they’ll be successful in the competition.

“The Eisteddfod is very proud of our link with Only Boys Aloud.  We’ve been involved since the beginning of the project, and gave them their first opportunity to perform two years ago.  The choir has gone from strength to strength since then, and are definitely part of the Eisteddfod’s cultural and community legacy in south east Wales.  Good luck to them on Saturday.”

The Principality Building Society are great supporters of the choir, and Pat Ashman, the company’s Sponsorship and Events Manager says, “The Principality has supported Only Boys Aloud since the start, and we are delighted with their success in reaching the final of Britain’s Got Talent.  This is not only a boost to them as a choir but to Wales as a whole, and is a wonderful stage for choral singing in Wales, which is also important to the Principality.

“We’ve been sponsoring the Eisteddfod choral competitions for a number of years, and the opportunity to see a choir of young boys from the Valleys – created for the 2010 Eisteddfod – on one of the most popular programmes on television is great.  Good luck to them on Saturday, and we’re also looking forward to sponsoring the opening concert at the Eisteddfod this year, where the boys will shine on the Pavilion stage.”
