Following a hugely successful weekend in Denbigh, ‘Open Doors’ will be coming to Llangollen on 17 and 18 September.
The event is completely free, and walks, tours and talks still available to book include:
A talk about the history of the International Musical Eisteddfod at the Royal International Pavilion.
You can book a talk at Plas Newydd where they will talk about the gardens, carvings and the history of the Ladies of Llangollen. Casual visitors will be charged an entry fee.
A walk with Fiona Gale looking at the Archaeology of Llangollen and discovering the town’s history through its buildings. Fiona is an interesting and informative guide and her walks have always been highly praised.
There are tours of St Collen’s Church which dates from the 13th century, there’s no need to pre-book and times are 12 noon Saturday and 2.30pm on Sunday.
You can pre-book a visit to the engineering workshop at Llangollen Steam Railway where they restore locomotives for heritage railways.
Would you like to go on some tours led by characters from Llangollen’s past? Visit Valle Crucis Abbey where the custodian will be giving tours dressed as a Cistercian Monk! Join the History Tour of Llangollen with Sarah Ponsonby and Friends – you don’t need to pre-book this, meet at the Town Hall at 2.30pm on Sunday.
Take a walk along the canal to the pump house at Horseshoe Falls where someone will be on hand to talk about its history; parking is available at Llantysilio Green.
Llangollen will have free parking in all car parks during the weekend.

Open Doors is also taking place in Ruthin on 24 and 25 September, free parking in Ruthin is available in County Hall car park – you will have to pay parking fees in all other car parks.
