Coleg Gwent Students have been offered an exciting opportunity to meet the speaker of the House of Commons and take a tour of Parliament after receiving an invitation from the Speakers Office.
The trip has been organised for Independent Learning Skills students at Crosskeys Campus by Tutor Victoria English, who last year organised a visit to the Welsh Assembly where students recited a poem they had written themselves to the Minister for the Environment Jane Davidson.
Speaking about last year’s visit Victoria said: “It was amazing. This year we wanted to go one step bigger and visit Parliament!”
The visit will take place in January, and the group are looking forward to reciting their poem in Parliament.
“The group are incredibly excited by this amazing opportunity,” said Victoria.
“They are looking forward to seeing all that Parliament does for the country, and cannot wait to recite their poem about the environment.”
The group are well known for the wonderful work they carry out for the Caerphilly Community by fundraising, recently they have raised £409 for Great Ormond Street selling cakes, as well as taking part in litter picking, and environmental work.
