Painting in Cwmavon Library

A painting of Zion Chapel now hangs in Cwmavon library thanks to the generosity of the late Darwel Thomas.

Darwel, who was the chapel secretary, commissioned the painting by renowned artist Ceri Bartlett and bequeathed it to the library.

The painting was handed over to the Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Ali Thomas, at a formal presentation attended by family and friends.

Councillor Thomas said, “It gives me great pleasure to accept this painting on behalf of the Council and residents of Neath Port Talbot.

“The picture has pride of place in Cwmavon library and the kind bequest means that the whole community can enjoy its beauty.

“My thanks must go to Darwel’s family for their generosity and goodwill.”
