Pampered, preened and prepared to party

Thirty Coleg Gwent students from hair and beauty courses at City of Newport Campus made sure undergraduates at the University of Wales, Newport were preened, pampered and prepared for glitz and glamour at their Students’ Union’s Summer Ball.

On Friday 27 May budding beauticians offered manicures, makeup and nail art whilst hairdressing students curled, scrunched and twisted to make sure the students looked their best for the ball.

Twenty-year-old Jess Lawson is a criminology and counselling student at the university’s Caerleon Campus and lives in Newport.  She was delighted with her makeover:  “I had both my hair and makeup done and I was so happy with the results.  The Summer Ball is the last big event of the year before we all finish for summer so everyone hopes to look their best.  I couldn’t have created the look myself so I’m really happy the students were there to help as they certainly know what they’re doing.”

Jasmin Dean from Caerleon is the trainee hairdresser that Jess had to thank for her glamorous look:  “We get to create lots of different looks on the course but I particularly like creating more glamorous styles so the day was a perfect opportunity to do this – we wanted all of the students to look their best for their big night.”
