Parrott: Large Fall in Unemployment Shows ‘Sign of Confidence’

Eluned Parrott AM Portrait 2Responding to today’s figures that show unemployment in Wales has continued to fall, Eluned Parrott, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Business Minister said:

“The Economy is picking up and people are starting to feel it, employment figures are continuing to move in the right direction, but there is still a long way to go.

“The Welsh Liberal Democrats know that what matters to people is not abstract numbers and for everyone currently looking for a job it can be a real struggle and often hugely demoralising.

“The Welsh Government urgently need to do more however, to help get young people into stable and meaningful employment. Less than half the participants who take part in the Welsh Government’s Jobs Growth Wales scheme get a job, showing that the Welsh Labour Government has a long way to go to help young people today.

“We want to see Welsh businesses thrive and have the confidence to take on more staff enabling them to grow to their fullest potential.”
