Pembrokeshire Residents Urged to Get Their Neighbourhoods In Action

People in Pembrokeshire are being urged to get their neighbourhoods in action.

Safer Pembrokeshire’s Neighbourhoods in Action (NIA) week runs from May 24-28.

The aim of the week is to demonstrate how the police, council and other agencies work together to keep Pembrokeshire safe.

The week involves a road show with the police, fire, local criminal justice board and dogs trust which will tour the county.

Community projects will also take place throughout the week. These projects will be undertaken by volunteers from the communities.

Alison Rogers, of Safer Pembrokeshire, said: “We are lucky to live in one of the safest areas and agencies work hard every day to ensure it stays this way.

“NIA is all about demonstrating how we work together to keep Pembrokeshire safe and to encourage residents to get involved in their communities.”

The projects include:

Haverfordwest:

  • A skip will be provided in the Courts area for residents to place large rubbish which maybe collecting in their gardens
  • There will be a litter pick in Morrisons business park
  • There will be two graffiti projects taking place in Trafalgar Road and Merlins Bridge
  • The road show will be in Castle Square from 10am-4pm on May 24

Milford Haven:

  • Work will be carried out in Neyland and Pill play park to improve the areas
  • There will also be a litter pick at Hubberston Churchyard
  • The road show will be in Tescos car park from 10am-4pm on May 25

Pembroke / Pembroke Dock:

  • There will be a graffiti project in The Ball Court, Monkton
  • The Old Priory will be given a face lift
  • The road show will be in Pembroke, Commons Road car park from 10am-4pm on May 26

Tenby:

  • There will be a clean up of the Tenby Railway station
  • Tenby Junior School will have help to repair their pond and create disabled access to their outdoor garden
  • Bus shelters in New Hedges and Saundersfoot will get a face lift
  • Volunteers will help plant plants in Saundersfoot’s sensory garden
  • The road show will take place in South Parade from 10am-4pm on May 27
  • The Tenby Dog Watch scheme will be launched in Augustus Place from 6-8pm on May 27

Fishguard:

  • There will be litter picks at Solva Play area, in the area next to St Marys Church Hall, Fishguard and Goodwick Beach.
  • The roadshow will be held in the West Street car park from 10am-4pm on May 28
