Pembrokeshire Youth Awards

Pemb AwardsYoung people and youth workers from across the County gathered recently at the Pavilion, Withybush for the sixth Pembrokeshire Youth Awards.

The annual event celebrated the achievements of community and school-based youth groups over the past year, with trophies awarded to those who stood out.

Around 150 young people from all over the County attended, with entertainment provided by singer Aby Kinnock, who represented Pembrokeshire earlier this year in the inaugural Welsh Youth Events Singing competition.

The evening was organised by Pembrokeshire Youth – Pembrokeshire County Council’s youth service.

Councillor Anne Hughes, Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, presented the following awards:

Youth Work Excellence in Part Time Youth Clubs Award
Winner – Newport Youth Club for their desktop calendars.

Youth Work Excellence in Full Time Youth Clubs Award
Winner – Fishguard Youth Club for their ‘Noughties to Forties’ project.

Youth Work Excellence in Schools Award
Winner – the SULP group from Pembroke School

Youth Work Excellence for Collaborative Work Award
Winner – Wildcamp

Youth Work Innovation Award
Winner – Newport Youth Club for their desktop calendars

Lynne Shipp Trophy
Winner – Fishguard Youth Club

The award is named in memory of former Youth Service Administrative Officer Lynne Shipp. The trophy is awarded to the club achieving the highest number of entries in Pembrokeshire Youth Events competitions and events throughout the year.
