Pembrokeshire’s TIC staff are in the pink

Pembrokeshire’s tourist information centres went pink last Friday.

TIC staff at all seven Pembrokeshire County Council-run centres donned pink costumes to raise funds for breast cancer charity – Breast Cancer Care.

They were joined by TIC development supervisor Jenny Hart and events and administrative assistant, Rosemary Roach, who wore pink outfits at TIC headquarters in Haverfordwest.

Pembrokeshire’s TIC staff – along with other workplaces – have gone pink every Friday this October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The decision to take part in Breast Cancer Care’s Pink Friday campaign was initiated by Pembroke TIC employee Sheila Ralph, who had breast cancer herself nine years ago and who now works as a peer support volunteer for the group.

“Breast Cancer Care is a charity after my own heart,” said Sheila. “It does wonderful work helping people suffering from breast cancer and I like to help them anyway I can.”

Jenny Hart thanked all TIC staff for their effort in making the Pink Friday event a success.

“I’d also like to thank local businesses and members of the public- visitors and residents alike – who donated to the appeal.

“We all know someone who has suffered with this disease so we all feel motivated to do something,” she said.
