The development is a partnership between Cadwyn Housing Association and Cardiff Council and Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-operatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury, will be joined by Cadwyn Chief Executive, Chris O’Meara on Thursday April 3 at 1pm for the official start of construction on the project by contractors Jehu Construction.

The scheme aims to sustain local shopping provision and involves the construction of four new commercial units, as well as 13 new affordable homes. Public realm improvements and provision of a new pedestrian crossing are also included.

It is expected that the redevelopment scheme will take approximately 15 months to complete and will be carried out in three phases to limit the amount of disruption to the local community.

Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-Operatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said: “This is the start of an exciting regeneration scheme that will transform the local area, providing a range of benefits to the community. The project will revitalise neighbourhood shopping provision as well as delivering new affordable homes in an area of significant housing need.

“I look forward to watching the project develop over the coming months.”

Chris O’Meara, Chief Executive of Cadwyn said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Cardiff Council to regenerate the area. Our early work has shown us that the community is really strong in Pentrebane and by working with the local people we can make the biggest difference.”
