Plaid Cymru AM Lindsay Whittle has branded the bosses of Britain power companies “gangsters in suits”.
Lindsay Whittle, the Plaid AM for South Wales East, made the accusation when he raised the issue with First Minister Carwyn Jones at the Assembly’s plenary session today
He was speaking in the wake of a 19 per cent increase in gas tariffs from August 1, which was announced by Scottish Power yesterday. They are also increasing electricity prices by 10 per cent. Other companies are expected to follow.
Lindsay Whittle said that the chief executives of the power companies should be invited to the National Assembly to explain hikes in charges.
“How do they plan to help low income families who are struggling to pay their bills? I share the dismay felt as a result of price increases announced yesterday. Some of them are acting like gangsters in suits.”
