Plaid Cymru AMs Chris Franks and Leanne Wood have declared their continued backing for ex-ASW workers seeking pensions’ justice.
They both attended a demonstration outside the Senedd today organised by redoubtable pensions campaigner John Benson of Dinas Powys.
Vale-based Plaid Cymru AM Chris Franks, whose late uncle worked at ASW, said: “While the bankers continue to pick up multi-million pound bonuses, the ASW workers have still not received 100 per cent compensation for losses from their pensions. And that is wrong.”
“I call on Labour Assembly Members Jane Hutt, John Griffiths and Christine Chapman, who attended today’s protest, to now sign the statement of opinion which calls for fairness for the ex-ASW workers.
“Conservatives and Liberal Democrats criticised Labour when it was in power for failing to end the injustice but the Con Dem government in Westminster is now sitting on its hands.”
Leanne Wood, the Plaid Cymru AM for South Wales Central, said: “I really admire the former ASW workers for the way they have battled for justice over nine long years and I know they will not go away until they win.
“I only wish the Welsh Government had the power to resolve this issue for these ordinary working class people who have been badly let down.”
