Plaid respond to YouGov Poll

The ITV commissioned Poll also showed continuing support for a “Yes” vote in the referendum on further powers for the Welsh Assembly. Of those giving a preference 52% are in favour whilst 29% are opposed. A 23 point lead.

Reacting to the result deputy leader Helen Mary Jones AM said:

“Obviously we will not get carried away with any one off poll. These results do reflect the sort of feedback we have been getting whilst out campaigning. Certainly people have been supportive on the doorstep to Plaid’s decision to be positive about approaching the economic challenges we face in Wales, unlike the other parties. Polling should always be taken with a certain amount of caution but this does show we are in a good position to work towards next May’s election in a bid to transform, not simply manage Wales.”

Speaking about the polling figures on referendum voting intention, which showed a 23 point lead for a YES vote, Helen Mary Jones AM added:

“It is very encouraging to see the YES vote go above 50% for only the second. There is a healthy lead in the opinion polls but there should be no complacency. it is important that we make sure that the campaign capitalises on that public appetite for more control over Welsh affairs, and secure the result that is needed for the people of Wales.”
