Playground award success

Key playgrounds across the Caerphilly county borough have been recognised for their high quality of maintenance and accessibility for disabled people.

Caerphilly county borough council has received four awards from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) as part of their Play Quality Awards scheme.

Receiving one of the awards demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to providing good child play opportunities and inclusion for disabled people. The award system has star ratings with 5 star being the highest accreditation available.

The four sites recognised by RoSPA were:

  • Waunfawr Park – 5 Star (increasing from its previous 3 Star status).
  • Morrgan Jones Park – 5 Star (maintaining 5 Star status for a second year).
  • Rhymney Park – 3 Star (maintaining 3 Star status for a second year).
  • Porset Park – 3 Star (maintaining 3 Star status for a second year).

The CCBC Mayor, Cllr John Evans, was presented with the new 5 Star RoSPA Play Quality/Site Quality Award for Waunfawr Park in Crosskeys.
