Police Appeal Following Swansea Rogue Trader Incident

South Wales PolicePolice in Swansea are appealing for information following a rogue trader incident which happened on Saturday 17th May.
 
At around 11.30am – midday an 83-year-old woman was approached in her home in Garrod Avenue, Dunvant by a man who said he was calling to fix damaged roof tiles.

The victim then handed over £80 to the suspect to buy materials but he has not been seen since.

The suspect – who introduced himself as ‘Stephen’ – is described as being white, 5ft 6ins – 5ft 8ins in height, aged 25-35, of athletic build, with short light brown/blonde hair, clean shaven with tattoos on his left and right forearms. He wore a blue Jack and Jones branded t-shirt with jeans and blue denim slip-on shoes.

Detective Constable Gareth Phillips of Swansea CID said: “This individual has attended the home of a woman aged in her 80s and duped her into handing over £80 after telling her that there was damage to the roof of her home.

“We are appealing to anyone who knows the identity of the suspect or recognises him from the detailed description given to come forward and contact the police.”
