Police appeal for witnesses following fire at a home in Llanelli

Police in Llanelli are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fire at a house in Alban Road, Llanelli which happened in the early hours of Tuesday the 4th of January 2011.

Both Llanelli Police and the Fire Service were called to the terraced house. All occupants were safely removed from the premises and the fire, which was contained to the front door and porch area, was extinguished by the fire service.

A 47 year old male was arrested on suspicion of arson, but has since been released on bail.

“The scene was examined on 4th January 2011 by a Forensic Scientist, Fire Investigator and Police Crime Scene Investigator,” said Detective Inspector Steve Cockwell. “There is no evidence to suggest the fire was caused by a firebomb, as reported in some newspapers.

Llanelli Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the Alban Road or surrounding areas between the times of 00.45hrs and 01.20hrs to come forward and assist us with our enquiries.”
