Police step up patrols at Anglesey Local Nature Reserve

Police patrols are being stepped up at an Anglesey beauty spot in a bid to clampdown on anti social behaviour.

PCSO Geraint Williams said this week that there had been a number of problems recently in the Dingle area of Llangefni, at the Coed Plas area of the Nature Reserve.

The 47 acre wooded valley which is rich in wildlife and history is a regular haunt for dog walkers and a popular tourist attraction.

The area has recently been improved by a wooden boardwalk which winds its way along the Cefni, three new bridges, sculptures, sculptured benches and picnic tables which allows access to many parts of the reserve thanks to community involvement, working in partnership and by grant aid.

PCSO Williams said: “We have had a number of problems with drugs and anti social behaviour in this beautiful woodland area and this will not be tolerated.

“There have been reports of problems with drug dealing and needles being found as well as general anti social behaviour in this area and along with our partners, the local council and other organisations we have put together an action plan to deal with this.

“We had a dog handler carrying out an operation there, Ynys Mon’s Waste Management Officers cleared away needles and we have stepped up patrols,” he said.

“Hopefully by all working together we will keep the area free from crime,” he said.
