Pontardawe Library Encourages Local History

Pontardawe Library has started a Local History Group to encourage anyone with and interest in this area to use the resources available to them.

At the inaugural meeting everyone who attended was able to browse through local materials as well as using Ancestry.co.uk, an online programme for tracing the history of your family, which is free of charge to any library member.

NPT Library staff  were on hand to deal with all queries relating to any aspect of family and local history providing valuable information to users.

Cultural Services Officer for NPT Paul Doyle, said “Pontardawe Library is at the heart of the community and can provide information which is free to access and available to all the community offering a highly valued service to all residents in Neath Port Talbot.”

Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas, said:

Pontardawe has a wealth of local history. I am pleased the community are now able to come together as a Local History Group at Pontardawe Library and use the free services on offer to carry out research and support local heritage whilst making new friends through a cultural social event.”
