Port Erin locals answer lifeboat SOS call

Port Erin RNLI had a very successful RNLI SOS Day, raising a fantastic £3,577.

The money was raised through various events, including a ‘Sample Our Soups’ event at St. Catherine’s Church Hall, which raised just over £554, with great support from Robinsons, Cooil Brothers Dairy, Ramsey Bakery and Tesco.

Co-op Port Erin raised over £541 by holding a raffle and Co-op Castletown customers kindly donated over £53. RNLI crew held collections outside Shoprite PE, which raised £1,509 with an extra £366 collected in store, with donations made by generous customers.

Collection funds were received from the Isle of Man Bank, the local pubs and Chippy in Port Erin to the tune of £250. Rushen Primary School also held a fun dress down day and raised over £200.

All donations go towards the training of the RNLI’s volunteer crew, lifeboats and lifesaving kit to help them save lives at sea.

Chris Angold, Fundraising Chairman for Port Erin Lifeboat  said: “On behalf of the Committee and RNLI crew, I would like to thank everybody for their generous support and look forward to SOS 2011!”
