Port Talbot volunteer lifeboat crew assist broken down fishing boat

Port Talbot volunteer lifeboat crew were busy washing down and refuelling the inshore lifeboat after the training exercises yesterday when they received a call informing that a fishing boat had broken down a mile off shore.

The volunteer lifeboat crew launched the RNLI inshore lifeboat immediately and were soon on the scene.

The boat, a 18 foot Wilson Flyer, with five men on board, had run out of fuel and was unable to return to shore. The RNLI lifeboat crew established a tow and preceded to the slipway in the River Afan were the boat was recovered onto its trailer.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat was then returned to the station.
