Porthmadog murder investigation update

Motorists will be stopped in Porthmadog on Friday night as North Wales Police continue their investigation into the murder of 22 year old Ffion Wyn Roberts.

A road block will be set up on Church Street on Friday at 10 pm and will be in place until 5 am Saturday to enable police officers to speak to drivers and their passengers who may have driven through the area on the morning of the murder and who may not realise that they saw something significant.

Detective Superintendent Peter Chalinor said: “We have had an excellent response from local people, but we continue to believe that there may be more people out there who may just have information which could help the investigation. We are continuing with house to house enquiries and we will continue to use all the resources available to us to find the person or persons responsible for Ffion’s murder.

“People in the area need to reassured that incidents like this are extremely rare and there is still nothing at the moment to suggest that this incident is related to any other.”

The town continues to have an increased police presence and leaflets giving information on how to contact the police with information about the murder are being made widely available.

Ffion was last seen at the Union public house, Tremadog, at about 3.30 am on Saturday, April 10. She is believed to have made her way on foot along Church Street to Porthmadog.

Anyone who was in Tremadog or Porthmadog between 9 pm on Friday, April 9, and 8 am on Saturday, April 10, is asked to contact the incident room on 01745 538474 or to contact the Force on 101.
