Pound to Park Scheme Extended

The early bird trial at the Cardiff East Park and Ride has been extended until June.

The extension means that anyone who arrives at the Park and Ride car park before 8.30am Monday to Friday will only pay £1 for all day parking and travel to and from the city centre, instead of the normal £3 daily rate.

Since the new price was introduced back in January the number of commuters arriving before 08.30 am has trebled as they take advantage of the reduced £1 charge

Additional bus stops on Park Place have also been introduced to make it easier for those working in the Cathay’s Park area.

Based just off the A48 (Eastern Avenue) the Cardiff East Park and Ride can be accessed from the Pentwyn Interchange. It has 945 car parking spaces, including 45 disabled spaces.

A Park and Ride bus runs every 15 minutes from 7am Monday to Friday until 8.30pm  On Saturdays buses run from 8am to 7pm and on Sundays from 10am until 5.30pm.

A Cardiff Council spokesperson, said: “The trial of the Early Bird special has proved to be very popular and we are delighted that we are able to extend the offer further. Many more people, both commuters and shoppers are benefiting from the service and the new price”.
