Flexible and part-time learning for anyone looking to enhance their education will be the theme of a professional open evening at Glyndŵr University Wrexham.

The event takes place on Thursday November 19 at the Catrin Finch Centre and brings together experts from the across the University to showcase new and existing degrees and qualifications.

The aim is to give those who may not have the time or be in the position to study for a full-time degree, bosses looking to upskill employees, those wanting personal development or parents returning to work the support they need to take the next step in their career.

The Schools of Social and Life Sciences; Media, Art and Design; Engineering, Computing and Applied Science, and the newly-launched North Wales Business School will all be in attendance.

Organised by Business Development Managers Laura Gough, Christina Blakey and Kim Dimmick, the evening will include breakout sessions on counselling skills and lighting-up learning, networking, and seminars tailored to give advice on grant funding applications and entrepreneurship.

“We want to give the many people already in a job, those returning to work or anyone looking to better themselves or find a new career the chance to see what we have on offer,” said Laura.

“We are a new university which mean we can be more flexible, adapt to what prospective students want and deliver it in partnership with some of the region’s industrial heavyweights, not just in business but all departments here at Glyndŵr.

“People looking to enhance their skills in many different areas – from health and sports science, to computer networking and Welsh for professional purposes – should come and join us.”

Christina added: “We want the message to go out across North Wales and beyond the border that we are here to support businesses and their employees and that they can come here to see how we can help them.

“This is why we want to see people with interest in studying at Glyndŵr University Wrexham joining us for our professional open evening.”

A report commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) has revealed Glyndŵr University Wrexham directly and indirectly generates more than £176million a year for the UK economy.

The Welsh institution has also created 1,490 jobs in the UK, and remains among the top universities in the country for helping alumni secure graduate-level employment.
