Pupils lead the way with silver for green work

Pupils at Orielton School have won a Silver Sustainable Schools Award.

The youngsters were presented with their award by Councillor Huw George, Pembrokeshire Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, at a special Assembly recently.

Over recent months the pupils have planned educational visits using low impact forms of transport. They’ve also made a video about their days out to persuade others to get out and about and leave the car at home.

Pupils have been saving energy and water in school, as well as encouraging people in the local community to follow their example.

At the recent Assembly, the youngsters demonstrated their work on Transport, Water and Energy and also performed their own version of Abba’s Super Trouper!

Tim Brew from West Wales ECO Centre said: “It’s great to see such outstanding work from one of the county’s smaller schools.”

The Sustainable Schools Award scheme recognises efforts to improve quality of life and the environment without damaging the planet for future generations.
