Quadrant Clarks staff put on their running shoes for Race For Life

Staff at a Swansea shoe shop have racked up hundreds of pounds for charity in recent years in the city’s Race for Life.

And once again a team from the Clarks store in Swansea’s Quadrant Shopping Centre are stepping out to help beat cancer.

The four-strong team will be putting their best foot forward at Swansea’s 5K Race For Life on Sunday, July 24, as they aim to raise a packet in aid of charity.

Alliesha Barnett is one of the quartet and she said: “We just decided to do it. So many people are affected by cancer and it is such a good and worthy cause and Clarks support it too.”

Alliesha, originally from Edinburgh, will be joined at the start line at Swansea’s Museum Green at 10am by colleagues Dawn Allen, Lisa Taylor and Stacey Thomas.

Store Manager David Carter said: “It’s something the girls here at the Quadrant Shopping Centre have done for the past few years, even before Clarks became official sponsors for the Race For Life nationally.

“It’s all in a good cause and they run together and enjoy it and over the years they’ve raised a few hundred pounds.

“Different members of staff have done it and it must be the third time Dawn and Lisa have run it but even those who don’t run will all sponsor them.”

Alliesha hasn’t done the race before and she added: “I’ve been trying to get into training for it and have done a bit of jogging but it’s my brother in Edinburgh who is the runner in the family – he’s done marathons.

“I used to run a lot a few years ago and I’ll be doing my best – the training is a good way to exercise the dog.

“We’ve been kitted out with Clarks trainers as they are official sponsors of the event and the part of proceeds of the sales of a special range of trainers goes to the charity.

“We just all liked the idea of taking part because it’s such a social event as well as a fantastic way to help beat cancer.”
