BBC Radio Wales has been shortlisted for one of the radio industry’s most prestigious awards – the Sony Radio Academy Awards, Station of the Year (one million plus listeners).
The Awards take place on Monday 10 May 2010 and Radio Wales will be one of three finalists, alongside Real Radio Scotland and Kiss 100 London.
Since 1983, the Sony Radio Academy Awards have sought to recognise the very best of the UK radio industry. Reflecting the achievements and developments of the current radio world, the Awards also aim to identify future leading experts and celebrate lifetime contributions.
“I’m thrilled to be associated with such an esteemed award. To have made it through to the last three against some of the biggest local, regional and national stations in the UK is a real tribute to the team here who work hard to reflect contemporary Welsh life in a compelling way every day.” says Steve Austins, acting editor.
BBC Radio Wales is the country’s only English language national radio station reaching 411,000 listeners every week. The station offers a wide range of programmes, hosted by some of the nation’s most popular presenters, reflecting the issues, events, culture and interests of the people of Wales.
