Rain stops play

LV County Championship Division 2
Glamorgan v Surrey (Day 4)

Glamorgan 372 (Rees 86, Cosgrove 82, Dernbach 4-78), and 7-0 (2nd innings)

Surrey 303-9 (Davies 83, Ramprakash 73, Harris 4-82)

Match Drawn
Glamorgan 10pts, Surrey 9pts

There was no play on the 4th day at the Swalec Stadium and the match was finally abandoned by the umpires as a draw at lunchtime because of heavy rain. Glamorgan’s 10pts saw them slightly extend their lead at the top of Division 2 of the LV County Championship, while traditional Home Counties glamour club Surrey remain rooted at the bottom.

Championship cricket now goes on pause for 2 months for the Twenty20 Cup, with Glamorgan playing their first home game on Friday evening against Gloucestershire. Hopes are high for the competition this year with the acquisition of the Australian Shaun Tait, the world’s fastest bowler, especially for this competition.

Their next game in the LV County Championship where they are so far having such a successful season starts on 21 July, against Leicestershire at Swansea.
