Raising the spirits at Garwnant

There’ll be some ghostly goings-on at Garwnant later this month when the hellish sounds of Halloween fill the forest air.

The Forestry Commission Wales centre has been raising the spirits of visitors since it re-opened following a three-year refurbishment, but spectres of a different kind will rule the night on Friday, October 29.

Tickets are now on sale for the Halloween Terror Trail, where ghouls and ghosts will roam the forest, just five miles from Merthyr Tydfil, ready to give visitors an experience they’ll never forget!

As well as the guided walks into the darkness, there will be fire-eating demonstrations and children’s entertainers on hand to ensure everybody has a Halloween night to remember.

Visitor Centre Manager Sam Detheridge said, “We had such a frightful time last year that we couldn’t resist brushing the cobwebs off those costumes and doing it all over again.”

The Terrace restaurant/coffee shop will be open and Just Perfect Catering will be cooking a BBQ in addition to the usual hot and cold food available.

Louise Samuel, Director of Just Perfect Catering, said, “Enter if you dare, be served by our witches and ghouls, and try our hocus pocus frightfully delicious soups or our blood curdling desserts.”

Tickets for the night cost £4 per person, which includes car parking, and must be bought in advance as no tickets will be available on the night.

The walks start from 5.30pm until 8pm and will leave from the visitor centre every 10 minutes. Visitors will need to book a slot, but hurry as places are limited.

The Halloween hullabaloo is part of a busy schedule at Garwnant, which has a full events programme in place for the rest of the year.

There will be plenty for families to do during the half-term holiday, when FC Wales staff will be busy with the following events:
