Commenting on the announcement from the Welsh Labour Government that the Small Business Rates Relief Scheme will continue to be funded in Wales in 2014/15 thanks to funding from the Conservative-led Coalition, Nick Ramsay AM, Shadow Minister for Business, said:
“It is very welcome that many small businesses in Wales will be able to benefit from a reduction in business rates thanks to the Conservative-led Coalition.
“Welsh Labour Ministers have taken the right decision in following the actions of Conservatives in government by supporting small businesses, which are the backbone of the Welsh economy.
“This reduction scheme, while welcome, is no substitute for full reform of business rates to reduce the tax burden on small businesses, which would encourage growth.
“Welsh Conservatives are a low tax party committed to cutting taxes and will continue to campaign for business rates to be abolished for all small businesses.”
