Ramsay: WAG must crack down on wasteful spending

Commenting on the news that the Welsh Assembly Government spent over £400,000 on external PR consultants over the last year, Shadow Finance Minister, Nick Ramsay said:

“At a time of considerable financial pressure on public services, the Assembly Government should be especially careful in its spending of taxpayers’ money.

“I am sure that many families across Wales who are having to make savings in their own household budgets will be disappointed to see the Assembly Government spending such vast sums blowing its own trumpet.

“I am confused as to why Ministers are spending so much on external PR companies when they employ their own staff to deal with such matters.  The Assembly Government, like all public bodies, has to duty to spend money wisely and must crack down on any frivolous and wasteful spending.”
