Renewable energy firm sign major deal with biomass boiler giant

A North Wales renewable energy firm have pulled off a major coup after announcing an exclusive deal with a major manufacturer in the growing biomass fuel heating sector.

Carbon Zero UK have been named as exclusive suppliers of Woodpecker boilers for North Wales and the North West.

The revolutionary boilers burn wood pellets and are a major competitor to oil-fired systems and it is a major coup for the St Asaph-based firm with the Government’s £860 million Renewable Heating Incentive coming on line this month for non-domestic users.

Householders are set to cash in from next year with the payments guaranteed for 20 years.

Carbon Zero Director Jon Bray is delighted to be able to team up with Woodpecker and said: “These really are the Rolls-Royce of boilers and are an ideal solution if you have an oil-fired system.

“That’s often the case in rural areas where people aren’t close to mains gas and wood pellets are a much cheaper alternative.

Installed they start at about £8,000 for a boiler capable of heating an average home and they will pay for themselves within four or five years – they’re up to 60 per cent cheaper than oil and you’re saving the planet as well.”

Carbon Zero UK, who also have offices in Altrincham and cover the North and North Wales, see the wood-fired boilers as an ideal heating solution for small commercial use as well.

They are currently looking at installing two 45kilowatt boilers into a 14-bedroom bed and breakfast business in Surrey and Jon Bray added: “This really is a win-win solution to heating because there are vast reserves of unused wood which are wasted every year.

“The Forestry Commission estimates at least two million tons of unused wood fuel is produced every year and this could be sued to heat homes, schools and businesses while providing much needed jobs in rural areas.”

“We see it as an important new sector and very much part of the package of renewable energy systems which we can provide.

Woodpecker Business Development Director Gerard Cross has also welcomed the partnership: “We reached out to Carbon Zero initially and we’re delighted they’ve come on board.

“Strategically they’re very well-placed in North Wales and the North West with large off-gas areas in their regions and they have the expertise to install the boilers as well which is crucial.

“We work with very specialised and qualified people and that’s what Carbon Zero are and we’re very happy with the way the partnership is developing, they’re doing a lot of legwork and pushing customers our way.”

Rapidly-growing renewable energy firm Carbon Zero UK, which specialises in installing ‘green’ energy systems for homes and businesses, was launched in 2009 by Gareth Jones, from Llandudno, and it has seen its business grow rapidly so that it has this year opened a North West regional office in Altrincham.

They are experts at harnessing sun, wind, water and even the power of the air and the earth to benefit businesses with cheap power and free water and heating.

They supply and install a range of systems from solar panels for heating to wind turbines, air and ground source heating, rainwater harvesting and biomass systems for energy and heating.
