S4C has confirmed that the Channel’s Director of Commissioning, Rhian Gibson, has resigned.
She joined S4C in 2006 and during that period was responsible for commissioning some of S4C’s most popular and successful programmes and series, including series about events and communities, a wide range of sports, and drama series such as Teulu and Pen Talar.
Rhian was also responsible for planning the programme strategy for the digital switchover, and for introducing Clic, S4C’s online viewing service. One of the most significant developments during her time as Director of Commissioning was the creation of Cyw, S4C’s pre-school children’s service and Stwnsh for the older age group.
In a statement, Rhian said that S4C faces a new chapter and wished S4C and the production companies all the best for the future.
S4C’s Chairman, John Walter Jones, said that he respected Rhian’s decision and thanked her for her service and contribution over the last four years.
