Rhondda officers swap beat for charity walk

Northern BCU officers Natasha Foster and Cherylin Pryor exchanged their usual Rhondda beat to join more than 350 community members on an 11-mile Charity Walk.

The Park to Pit walk, in aid of the Macmillan charity, commenced at Tynewydd Park and ended at the Colliery Pit at the Heritage Park, Porth.

PCSO Natasha Foster said: “It was a marvellous community event. I met some amazing people along the route who all had personal stories which had inspired them to take part in the walk.

“There were a variety of ages and fitness levels, with some never having embarked on anything like an 11-mile walk. But all had the same common theme which was how wonderful the Macmillan nurses had been to their loved ones and they wished to show their appreciation by doing the walk and raising a great deal of money for the charity.”

Natasha’s next challenge, having been inspired by the community members on the walk, is to abseil down the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport for Macmillan on Sunday the 18th July.
