Rhyl Halifax raid – police issue descriptions

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a Rhyl building society on Friday evening in which a security guard was injured.

At 7.15pm on October 9, two masked men used a sledge hammer to force their way into the Halifax Building Society on Russell Road in Rhyl.

Security officers were inside the premises at the time but a large amount of cash was stolen before the offenders escaped, probably in a dark red five door car which made off at speed along Grange Road. A third person is believed to have been driving the car.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the car driving off in the direction of Grange Road. A security officer suffered slight injuries during the incident, but did not need hospital treatment.

One of the men inside the Halifax is described as being 6’2” tall, and was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava. His accomplice was 5’10” tall, of stocky build and he was also wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
