RNLI Angle all-weather lifeboat aids yacht

Angle RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched on Thursday (28 July) to go to the aid of a yacht, with engine problems, off the Pembrokeshire coast.

The Anglesey-based yacht, with two persons on board, was on passage from Aberystwyth to Milford Haven.

The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason, under the command of Coxswain Andy Elliot, launched at 5.12pm and located the yacht half-a-mile off Skomer Island.

One of the lifeboat volunteers was transferred to the 8m yacht by Y-boat and it was initially intended to sail the casualty towards St Anne’s Head, at the entrance to the Milford Haven Waterway. However, because of the time factor, a line was subsequently passed to the yacht and the lifeboat towed her to Milford.

The lifeboat returned to her station at 8.50pm and, after being refuelled and washed down, was ready for service again.

With Coxswain Elliot on the call-out were Second Coxswain Danny Richards, Rich Bowles as Mechanic, Adam Seaton, Jo Lynas, Nigel Berry and Peter Roch.
