Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC cabinet member for regeneration, visited a newly opened café in Blackwood this week to wish the venture well.
Esther Apoussidis and her husband George have taken over the lease of a unit within The Market Place – a shopping precinct in the heart of the town centre.
Coffee Continental is a stylish new coffee house and bistro with an emphasis on a wide choice of beverages, especially coffees, as well as cakes and light savoury bites/snacks.
Caerphilly county borough council offered support to the business as they searched for suitable premises in the town centre. By using the councils online Retail Property Directory Esther was able to find the right premises in Blackwood town centre for her business. The council was also able to provide information which helped Esther develop a business plan in order to access financial help.
“My husband and I were delighted to locate our new business venture in Blackwood town centre and we are grateful for the help and support provided by the council,” said Esther. “We have gutted the unit and undertaken major improvement works including a new kitchen and service area. We now look forward to welcoming new customers and hope to become a popular destination for shoppers with our wide range of refreshments and snacks.”
Cllr Ron Davies said, “We are always pleased to welcome new businesses into our town centres and its great that we were able to offer support which helped Esther get the venture off the ground. I wish Coffee Continental all the best for the future and look forward to calling in for a cuppa the next time I’m in Blackwood.”
